Supporting Coventry's Purple Flag Journey

We partnered with Coventry City Council and Coventry BID to deliver research, training and practical safety initiatives that supported the city's Purple Flag ambitions and strengthened Coventry's evening and night time economy.

Six Till Six was commissioned by Coventry City Council and Coventry BID to undertake a public perceptions study and deliver a range of initiatives to support the city’s evening and night time economy and Purple Flag ambitions.

We designed and delivered a city-wide public perceptions survey to understand how residents, visitors and workers experience Coventry after dark. The research explored perceptions of safety, transport, cleanliness, accessibility and the overall city centre experience, providing valuable evidence to inform local action planning and support the city’s Purple Flag application.

Alongside the research, we developed and delivered a bespoke online vulnerability training programme to support the city-wide rollout of Ask for Angela. The self-led training was designed specifically for Coventry’s hospitality and licensed premises, helping staff build their confidence in recognising vulnerability, responding appropriately to incidents and supporting customers who may need assistance.

The project helped Coventry become the first region in the West Midlands to achieve the Purple Flag accreditation, recognising the city’s commitment to creating a safe, welcoming and well-managed destination after dark. By combining research, training and practical safety initiatives, the project provided a strong foundation for continued partnership working and improvement across Coventry’s evening and night time economy.
