Making the case for a safer late night food offer

Providing independent licensing evidence to assess how extended opening hours at Wendy’s Camden could support safety, inclusivity and a more diverse evening and night time economy.

Six Till Six was commissioned to provide an independent expert opinion in support of a licensing application seeking extended late night refreshment hours for Wendy’s on Camden High Street. The application proposed operating until 05:00 daily and required consideration of both the licensing objectives and wider policy context.

Drawing on extensive experience of licensing policy, operational best practice and the management of the night time economy, Six Till Six assessed the characteristics of the premises, its customer profile, operational procedures and likely impact on the local area. The work considered Camden’s licensing policy alongside wider strategic frameworks including the London Plan, Camden’s Evening and Night Time Strategy and emerging London-wide licensing reforms.

The assessment examined how a well-managed, non-alcohol-led venue could contribute positively to safety, inclusivity and the diversification of Camden’s evening and night time economy. Particular attention was given to safeguarding, women’s safety, partnership working and the role of late night food venues in creating safer and more welcoming environments.

This work highlighted Six Till Six’s ability to provide strategic licensing evidence that considers both the licensing objectives and broader place-making, economic development and public safety priorities.
